Below is the list of all genes that we determined to be associated with drug metabolism. There are two lists, the first are the genes that we considered to be most important, the Core List, and the second contains the remaining genes that we considered associated with drug metabolism. These genes can be grouped into four categories: Phase I and II metabolism enzymes, responsible for the modification of functional groups and the conjugation with endogenous moieties respectively; transporters, responsible for the uptake and excretion of drugs in and out of cells; and modifiers, that can either alter the expression of other ADME genes or affect the biochemistry of ADME enzymes. The rankings of the extended list are based on the input of 7 major pharmaceutical companies on the basis of their desire to see the particular gene on a commercial product.
